 My Prayers
Sometimes I pretend to understand the ways of God;
Then at other times, I feel lost and without a Shepard.
I know that my prayers are always taken to His throne;
But I just don't understand His priorities or His timing.
Frustration can set in as I lift up my prayers for a friend;
Seeking God's face for the healing to their illnesses.
This feeling that I am experiencing is common to man;
As we humans want our prayers answered right now.
In this world of fast food and high speed connections,
Patience has become a lost characteristic in this generation.
God has become our Genie in a bottle, rubbing the lamp;
Making my wishes known, expecting instantaneous gratification.
I gather myself, as I see where I have been misguided again;
No longer seeking God's will, believing I know what's best.
I surrender my will, my self-righteous wisdom at your feet;
I pray for that one on my heart, then allow You to be God.
