Upon the very top of a lonely hill
cries out a song of a whippoorwill
Eerie is the sound traveling above
urgently sending a dire call of love

Out in the forest on treetops tall
hoots an owl with his mating call
Far and wide he hoots all night
searching for a mate in moonlight

Out in the desert under full moon
howls a coyote long before noon
Up and down hills he keeps pace
moonlight shining upon his face
