Enjoyed silence with a friend
Gone to a dance with the wrong person
Danced all night with someone right
Sat in the moonlight and listened to crickets
Looked in his or her eyes and shared thoughts
Written on her palm, "I love you!" In a dark movie
Tested her and wrote something obscene
And was playfully slapped and felt the blush
Been so much in love you couldn't be apart
Known someone you cared about and still broke her heart
Petted the neighbors dog knowing he came to dump
Winked at a crying baby in a crib
Stayed to watch and make the baby giggle
Given money to a poor man and thought some day me
Asked, "Why Me God!" and forgot he answered on good days
Greeted a man you didn't like with a smile
Stepped in an broke up a fight when it was dangerous to do
Stopped to help someone with a car broken down
Held a gun on an animal an couldn't pull the trigger
Served your country in a war when others would not
Felt the feeling of making a walk off home run
Made a winning free throw with time running out
Struck out with the bases loaded an know you did your best
Take a test and be sure you failed and pass
Wonder why you were asked to do and impossible task
Listen to a loved one snore and find it comforting
Save someones life just because you were in the right spot
I have done all these things and find it part of life.
Now as old age approaches I still look forward to the surprises
I don't hide affections for the people I care about. A hug
