A Tribute To Ish Covington

"My Gramps, My Friend"

He came into my life as the father of a friend,
and in my heart he turned into my friend...
He came into my life as an Uncle,
and he stayed in my heart as a dear friend...
He came into my life as Gramps,
and he was planted in my heart as a wonderful friend...

This wonderful, unique man I speak of
is a man who changed my life forever
by filling it with his goodness, his kindness, his love...
He filled my life with humbleness and beauty,
for he bestowed that unto me first...
He was there for me in some of the brightest times of my life--
He was there for me in some of the darkest times of my life--
He was always there for me,
never once was a harsh word spoken to me--or of me--by him,
he talked to me in love, he showed me love,
he lent me his shoulder and hugs a thousand times over,
so that I would be comforted.
He gave me his laughter so that I could laugh with him.
He gave me the twinkle in his blue eyes,so that I may experience
the reflection of true happiness.
He gave me his heart, so full of nonjudgmental love,
that I always stood bewildered...and content.
He was a man that moved me.
He was an inspiration to me in all he did.
His life is to be honored, his goodness spread to all of mankind,
not just to his family and friends, but to strangers that would be
so blessed to walk into his path of life.
I've witnessed the good of a human being,
because I saw it in my Gramps.
I saw the wonderful Love and Grace that God gives to special people,
because I saw it in the life that Gramps lived....and spoke about.
His love for Jesus was evident...in every kind word he spoke,
in every truth he stood for, in the way he treated his wife,
children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends,
friends of his family, his impression of God was impressed
upon countless others...he was a Christian man that I looked up to.
He influenced my life with nothing but goodness.
He was so loved by me.
He will be so missed.
I know that he walks Heaven's streets today.
I know that he is in peace and love and friendship with Jesus Christ.
I know that he is happy and content.
I know that he is in such a perfect and most beautiful place,
walking and talking with the Lord.
I know he is reunited with all of his loved ones that went on to be
with the Lord before him.
I will remember my Gramps forever.
Thank you, Gramps, for giving me your friendship!
I love you!
