 Gone Into the Night
Do not freak, my friends, this is not a personal
write.
She had stood by me through years of trials;
Our recent grandchild had brought us smiles.
She had been a dedicated mother to our kids;
Yet she strayed to a place where love forbids.
I never suspected a thing, I was totally blind;
This snuck up on me, ambushed me from behind.
I thought she was happy with our quiet, simple life;
I thought that she loved me, loved being my wife.
Now, I'm wondering where did our marriage go wrong?
What was the tune that called her to a new song?
Tears run down my cheek as I sit in our empty house;
It is so quiet now, I can hear the proverbial mouse.
Sitting in the floor, my glazed eyes staring at nothing;
I look down at my hand, I smile seeing my wedding ring.
I think I hear something, I look to the left and the right;
But I'm so alone here, as she has gone into the night.
