AFTERNOON PRAYER

Thankful for the train that rolls
Clacking through my town
Thankful for the many souls
That my hands were around

As they were older than me still
They called me a young chick
Nurse for them helping well
As they were old and sick

Lord great let me be grateful
Forgiveness be my guide
Throw out all that is hateful
On the love of God to ride

Over country as an angel
Wings beating strong
In spirit at an angle
We cannot see for long

Some hear it in the day though
In the sounds of small town life
Or they see it in the sun glow
Dreaming East to be a wife

Prayers O God let them come fully
Let me have hope for all
Bring down your perfect love to rule me
As I am going to fall

Only human cannot fly
Thoughts although will glide away
Spiritual blessings light the eye
All knowing in my soul this way

The majestic grace you give
I understand
Times thought I would die, I live
As you were there to hold my hand

Through good and bad
Your love's right here
Faith clad
Because I feel you near

God's eye is all to be
Blackness then light glows
Say an afternoon prayer for he
Who knows this poetry before it rose

As grains of words keep baking
Passion's yeast for God's brilliance comes
Food written for the taking
Any discomfort to pray goes numb

All the pain will go away
Concentrate on the lives you touch
Go out into the world and play
Believe in the God of love he loves you much

Prayers for love
For faith and light
I send to God above
An afternoon delight.
