away from blue bayou swamps, into Cajun rice fields.
Catfish too heavy for any line a pole-man might cast.
It is quiet here among still dragonflies, my airless past.
We left our salt, bloodstained dried, inside these grain mills.

Autumn is kinder here, removed from dull bricks and twirling trash,
where laughter travels light without bother, nor quill.
