April's Heartbreak
Morning thunder is the sound of April's heartbreak.
Raindrops are misplaced tears from her dark, Monday eyes.
Winter sky denies knowing what causes her downspin.
Poor grief dies orange with rust and dry like her voice.
Mister Wednesday turns and smiles a whispered secret.
Tragedy is an old, familiar friend of his.
Loss is something he bears on his shoulders like pride.
Both are lawless companions of grave misfortune.
Like an open razor, without safe regard,
carelessly, it slashes in violent dancing dashes.
So much of her is wrapped around his piercing dream!
I can hear her sorrow splash about each ditty.
April's heartbreak is the sound of Morning's thunder!
She's young, black, and gifted beyond simple measure.
Raindrops are misplaced tears from her dark Monday eyes.
Poor grief dies orange with rust, and dry like her voice.
