Terrain
Solitude can be a most inhospitable friend.
Exposing in her most formidable way,
a bitter lay of concrete canyons and valley soot,
littered with a saintly ferocity.
Pity, like freezing peaks, has a nervous altitude.
Livid streams travel without notice to their path,
forging stone, moving rock, and guzzling pebbles.
There is no landing for sorrow at their banks.
Every piece of paper has an edge bemused by eyes.
A region of speechlessness
where ink dares not venture,
stillness is created and silence is sought.
She is in a soft hiding place excused of notice
just under awareness, demanding quiet.
Solitude can be a most inhospitable friend.
Her audacious climb is a test of footing.
