Selfish Heart
I just can't seem to say goodbye
Yet, because of your leaving, it's clear I must try
To find the right words that I need to convey
That force me to hear what my heart cannot say.
But what if I can't, then what must I do
Should I start to pretend that I didn't know you?
That's too much to ask; I was never that strong
Which is something so sadly I knew all along.
Now I stand here in silence and inwardly cry
Wondering how this could happen and questioning why
But you're now with The Lord, and in that I am glad
Though my selfish heart breaks for the friend I once had.
