 I Said No

This poem is written from the perspective of a young girl
on one of her first dates. The experience is not good.

Sitting in Biology class, Bobby just asked me out;
I think he is so cute, my insides just want to shout.
Of course, I say yes; after all, Bobby's not a snake.
He then said, How about us driving up to the lake?
I get a little nervous inside, so I said no;
How about some dinner, then maybe a show?
Bobby says that this is cool, and leaves me with a smile;
My fantasies dance in my head for a little while.
He picks me up on time, he has a sweet ride;
I slide in to the seat, move closer to his side.
We turn onto a road that goes to the lake;
I'm wondering if I have made a mistake.
He parks on the quiet side, nobody is around;
I say, Bobby, what is up, I'm hoping he is not a hound.
He says, Just relax, Mary Sue, then touches my breast;
I push his hand away forcefully, I'm not making a request.
He begins kissing me and touching me, I am dazed;
I said no a dozen times, but he is acting like a man crazed.
A tear falls down my cheek as my mind shuts down.
I shout the words, Bobby, please take me back to town!
He gets angry, calls me an ice queen, then silently drives;
I am so glad to see my house as the car arrives.
I get out quickly, he speeds off down the road;
I sit on the porch in the cool, my heart rate is finally slowed.
The phone rings, it's Bobby's friend, Joe;
He asks me out for tomorrow, I said no.
