 Freedom's Cost

America's birthday, we celebrate once again;
We picnic with our families and our friends.
Hot dogs, hamburgers, watermelon, and beer;
Eating, drinking, and playing; but do we shed a tear?
Do we stop and think about those who gave it all;
This is freedom's cost, those soldiers that did fall.

Our nation has been defended by our military, it still is;
Many has sought to destroy us, but we are His.
Not only our armies, but our God has stood as our rock;
Try and remember this today as we party on the block.
Be thankful that God Almighty has blessed our land;
But remember freedom's cost, honor those who stand.

Many are overseas today, having to celebrate on foreign soil;
Pop a top and toast them with thanksgiving, as they fight and toil.
From our forefathers to the present, we have been so blessed;
Always stand ready to defend Her, if we are put to the test.
Mighty deeds of valor have brought us to this place in time;
Not remembering freedom's cost on this day would be a crime.
