Dust and Dreams-A Journey

Introducing the Self (Dust)

Introducing the Self

I wondered where I was today,
And the thoughts gave me a start,
A slight shiver, renewed vigor,
A bitter herb both sweet and tart,

For although I know the fields now,
Are merely dull and overgrown,
Holding very little purpose,
For the soul that stands alone,

Still, I imagine a child’s playtime,
Lighthearted laughter all around,
And remember how the prince,
Showed courage solely to astound,

The kingdom of people blessed,
Embracing endless chivalry,
Blindly unassuming in their knowledge,
Seeing only great gallantry,

If only to delight in this,
A merry, careless way,
Than to mourn the dusk of evening,
Smothering the dying day,

Just let me play pretend once more,
In my child’s world of innocence,
Just for now, I wish to visit,
Those lost days of sentiment,

If what I dream could last eternal,
A carefree child I would remain,
Yet I must introduce myself to itself,
Again to return to its refrain…….
