 Standing Firm
When I was in the military I learned this lesson,
That when I'm at attention, nothing else matters.
Not winds, nor rains, nor hail, or stifling heat;
Standing firm, looking straight ahead into nothingness.
Steadfastness was this blessing Uncle Sam gave me;
Unwavering dedication to the purpose at hand.
Single minded attention to those things that are necessary;
Standing firm, not distracted by rumors nor by facts.
Not called to be a judge of any situation, I simply stand;
Giving unto you my fullness of service and protection.
Now retired as a soldier, I still volunteer myself to the cause;
People need those who are willing to continue standing firm.
In service to God and Nation, now my fellow man;
On guard outside your gates, full of compassion.
Shout to the heavens if you need a good friend;
Standing firm against all odds, soldiers of the heart.
