Stay Sweet

Stay Sweet
I remember you as a baby, so innocent, so kind
Playing and having fun was all that was on your mind
Everything you did was cute or even funny
And your bright little smile made any gray day sunny
You did what you were told, never did you question
Now that you are getting older let me make a suggestion
Stay sweet, the way you've always been
I'd hate to see you change on account of  your friends
Just because you become a teen doesn't mean you go bad
Be daddy's sweet little lady like you've always have
Remember your dreams and all you want to do
Keep your eyes on your goals and let no one sway you
Have respect for yourself and carry yourself with class
Stay in a Childs place, don't grow up too fast
You will see a lot of your friends trying to be what they are not
Stay out of that frying pan because it will get hot
You're going to start to like boys and thinking they're cute
But don't betray your up bringing and get played like a flute
You will see a lot of things that other kids do
But be smart enough to know what's not for you
Remember, everything I teach you is for you own good
You shouldn't do everything that you think you should
Be an individual, not a monkey see, monkey do
Don't try to be like them, they should try to be like you
You're only as special as you keep yourself
Don't fall for the pressure, you'll only cheat yourself
Not every child has a loving mother and loving father
Some have parents that don't even bother
Don't mistake that for love, or think their parents are cool
No parent who loves their child will let they act like a fool
Carefully weigh the relationship between your family and friends
Friends will come and go, but family never ends
Never bite the hand that feeds you, always be loyal
Not every one you call friend will be there for you
Stay sweet, but don't let people push you around
And stay away from those who want to bring you down
Never forget where you come from, or how you got where you are
Remember the ones who love you and you will go far
Even if your ambitions take you to the highest mountain peaks
Always stay humble, and always stay sweet

To my girls
Love always
Daddy
