CHILDHOOD BUDDIES

If you were 6
I'd be young too
We'd be best friends
The whole day through

No thoughts of stress
Paying the bills
Tears would be less
We'd walk the hills

Resting in shade
Under a tree
My head there laid
With worries freed

To see your smile
The summer's spent
Walking the mile
To fort-tent

Where we'd camp out
Talk in the dark
I'd scream and shout
Your joking lark

Of the fake snakes
There in the tent
My heart does ache
For time we've spent

Oh there our land
Of all archaic
Please hold my hand
Jump in the lake!
