Guard Against Inattention
There is more of a need,
In attending to things;
That the Lord has decreed,
Than joy another brings.
Attention to the ears,
Of those things slipping away;
By chance are causing fears,
That are making you stray.
Attention to the eyes,
Of those things in your sight;
An enticing disguise,
Turning you from the light.
If not giving the mind,
A conscience that is free;
Then immorally blind,
Only darkness to see.
Our lips must confess,
To take sin from the heart;
And allow God to bless,
Giving us a new start.
Salvation is ours,
Through the Word of the Lord;
More than natural powers,
More than we can afford.
