Life's Time

On the sundial shadows grow
as fall  hourglass sands of time
to working hours that move too slow
to strike the hour's chime

Long the shadows then finally fade
the sand has dwindled down
The daylight seems to pull it's shade
the clock's become unwound

Light no longer finds this place
the sand is sadly still
Ticking finally stopped it's pace
the time that's left is nil

The body like the clock does slow
when broken, you can't mend
as the minutes onward go
Mortal life does come to end
