 For The Kingdom
The drizzle persistently wet the many mouths below
But it was not water they tasted, but blood!
The frenzy in their eyes, would wildly grow
Mixed with the blood soaked mud

Like a sea of sharpened silver glittering spikes
Not a finger nail between them
Like machines they thrust and slashed with deadly strikes
Cutting down the fields of men

The day will be long and rest will not come
Days may go on, until surrender or death is sought
The battle will go on and on until somones won
And the loser is distraught

Arrows fly, men charge, shields are lifted
Like ragdolls they drop, spineless and pale
Even those who were once gifted
Clashing of wills, clashes of lives, but to no avail

The Battle continues as the day dimmed
Husbands, sons, brothers, torn apart
Death stank, and was carried into the southern wind
Screams and sounds of war go on after dark

Dawn, brings dew upon the mass of death
Stragglers are slain and the dead robbed
But for those who still hear their breath
Stand silent and pale, and they sobbed, and sobbed

For victory was theirs, such gallantry
But what had been won? Land, freedom?
In truth they did not know, they just did their duty
For God, For County, For the Kingdom!
