Systems placed to serve a brother
In harms way yet more a bother
Is the one who served, now needs
Help to make ends meet impedes
Red tape draped is now their foe
The V A closes their eyes to those
Who served with pride and country well
So why is that they're living hell
The clerk still wet behind the ears
Does not see their need and hears
What these vets are due to them
Next! calling no time to lend
They fill out forms and bring receipts
Pleading their case fast in defeat
The V A seems more like V C
No compensation and no mercy
There are thousands that seek today
A change of heart from the V A
Yet this war that drafted one
Has spilled through peace and needs of sons
Some served and died on foreign land
Today on U S soil live damned
Those the V A will ignore
The claims of many whose lives war gored
Sad to say a country ours
Pays someone to clock in hours
Rejecting what once served them well
Soldier they trained like bitter pill
The V A has to step up to
The needs of all and not a few
For when war breaks who will they take
Soldiers abused they now forsake
To my dear friend Terry Sasek and all
the Veterans of wars forgotten. May their
battle with bureaucracy yield their just due
