OLD MAN
He's nothing but a homeless old man
You see him every day pushing his bicycle all round town
I have heard that he sleeps behind a local grocery shop
Always pushing that bike, never riding
Some people try to help him
My friend gives him new gloves and warm
Clothing in the winter.
She is hard as a brick in business
but makes sure he's taken care of come Christmas
Well the old man died this past winter
Bound in his belongings were many books he had written
Most poetry, all had been published in his young years
I have to ask myself how much better would I have treated him
Had I known he was, what do you say....."smarter".
I'm hoping I can find that kindness gene inside myself.
But in the mean time, God Bless Mr. homeless man
