"Hey, Lizzie, Well, a Man's Got to Have His Dream"--Tanya Tucker

Empathy fades and is no more,
I am a real man.
The problem is--
there isn't always enough assistance.
I haven't always the understanding,
yet I persist.
This is my pride.
What will foster me?
I love, I plan, I hope.
So, this dream
is what I have to look forward to.
There was a school in my heart at one time.
I come from my football game
and I take the necessary steps.
I'm achieving a goal.
I'm looking right at it.
I do not doubt the work I do.
Let me rise to the occasion.
When death comes,
I have no easy encore.
I've done my work,
and the judge is harsh.
I am desirous of the final goal:
the job, the love, the success,
the house in which I die.
Thank you for the goal.
