The Republican
There was a time for love, but fear kept it shrouded.
The actor plodded through his lines.
The chance had past, but his memories clouded.
In desperation he tried to make it true one last time.
In triviality he found his answer,
never grasping true contrition.
Requiem for the forlorn filled his thoughts.
He tried to triumph in a flurry of division.
Love and abhorrence, a single sided coin not bought.
The stage lights faded from bright to dim.
That which was finished gave him time to pause.
He turned, then bowed and showed them his grin.
The curtain slowly descended to stifled applause.
