Jesus is my Light

Emma loved Susan
as all sisters who have shared
much time together do.
Susan thought at times
that she spoke too religious.
Susan wasn't one for pious feeling.
One day, Emma said,
"Love triangles aren't the Lord's way."
"What are you talking about?
You're crazy," Susan responded.
Both these women are very pretty.
The truth was, Emma heard tell.
It's accepted to sneak behind
a husband's back, but not to Emma.
What was strange, to Susan,
was all that talk about Jesus
not liking a man
running around with another
woman--who Susan truly was--
was disturbing to her ears.
It didn't strike the right note
for a sister to say.
The day it happened,
Emma boldly said to Susan,
in her kitchen,
"A married man will be the death of you."
Susan said,
"Keep warm or you'll catch the death of cold."
Susan wasn't buying that Jesus nonsense that day.
All I know is the married man was John
and the wife was Sally.
That night Sally killed
Susan and John
in Jesus' name.
God's will be done.
