Night Tanka
High cliffs block the moon
Stern brow of stone stares downward
Liquid shadows fall
Jagged upward pathways choked
Cave beckons… secrets revealed
Impassive night sky
Lake so deep and secretive
Hidden patterns traced
Gentle waves stroke the shoreline
Devouring sand as they go
Rolling thunder sounds
Lightening, flashing, splits the sky
Strong winds push black waves
Paying homage to the shore
Then hastily retreating
White moon floats lazy
Drifting through the thick night clouds
Searches for the sea
Sighs as she sees her lover
Caress the face of the shore
