 Elsie`s Poetry

THE SAME SOUND

THE SAME SOUND

We spotted a quaint little inn
And we decided we`d go in,
We had a look at their fayre
It was good and the price was fair.

*    *

We got the bus after we ate
It was now just after eight,
We saw a man with a strange gait
Stop and rest on a garden gate.

*    *

A girl on the bus had dark hair
Her friend was blonde who was with her,
The contrast got many stares
Before the two ran down the stairs.

*    *

The conductor checked we`d paid our fare
He checked the lady with the stole made of fur,
She got it from God knows where
But it was part of her daily wear.

*    *

She spoke but I couldn`t hear
So I asked her to come here,
She carried with her a white pail
It matched her face as she was pale.

*    *

She spoke with such gusto and flair
Just then we saw a massive flare,
She said it was from the bonfire site
The colours were a lovely sight.

*    *

Pointing with her finger which was sore
A man was cutting wood with a saw,
A child in the street dropped her ball
And my oh! my could that child bawl!!

*    *

She asked where we were going to
And said she was going there too,
This meeting was by chance and new
But it would go no further we knew.

*    *

The bus stopped by a field with a stile
Youths passed dressed in the latest style,
The lady had shopping to buy
We waved her off and shouted `bye`.
