 Blue Collar

Sweat rolls off the brow, trickling down the cheek,
This country was founded on their hard work and toil.
The war for workers rights was not won by the meek;
Years of negotiation and strikes, blood was shed in the soil.

Back breaking labor by the underpaid working masses,
Union organizers gave hope, demanding human rights.
Workers in chemicals, in foundries, exposed to gasses;
Rising up against unfair management, the union fights.

The days of exploitation of our workforce is nearly past;
At least on our shores in America, now the war is to our west.
In modern China, the blue collar workforce is harassed;
Their rights will insure our jobs, as we seek their best.

Organization into unions worldwide is the only hope of equality;
As blue collar brothers and sisters of every language unite.
Seeking not wealth, but demanding a workplace of quality;
Until every human can truly celebrate Labor Day, we will fight.
