Can't we all just get along?
I want to fit in where I belong.
Everybody so happy with social harmony.
I want everybody loving me.
Please see the right of way.
Then you can think with the light of day.
I shouldn't feel strange
for desiring the considerate and kind.
But I'm watching this upset world unwind.
So it's the difference between the ideal and real.
Love for one another is not what we feel.
A professional person wants his clients,
a store wants its sales.
We're lost at sea facing all the gales.
I'm proud of myself for thinking all these thoughts.
Because all those callous types will leave you distraught.
We don't know one another in this rat race.
It's too much trouble to keep a friendly pace.
Let's all read between the lines.
Life's much smoother with tolerance in our minds.
Have I left anything out?
Should there be any doubt?
It's never too late to brighten up a person's day.
We're all people sharing the same human way.
This goes double for evil and wrongdoing.
Bring the law and show them what they're ruining.
I assure you this is not in jest.
Do a good deed and you will do your best.
