 The Mistress of Word Play

The Spider

There it is crawling.
Now it's dropped to the kitchen floor.
I see it creeping
then it scurries up a cabinet's door.

What a nasty little thing!
That eight legged demon, spawn of hell!
My skin begins to crawl.
My heart beats faster and begins to swell.

My hand has found the cupboard
which holds the sainted can of aerosol.
I start my feverish hunt for the creature
with my bug spray arsenal.

I spy it there atop my sink
watching me with some despair.
I aim the can of bug spray
and watch it misting in the air.

The spider seems to realize
what my intentions are.
Though it tries to hide
it doesn't get too far.

I stand and see it gyrate
then it falls upon its side.
"Finally," I say to myself,
"the spider's up and died!"
