From The Cradle
From the cradle - prayers and rituals -
Demons - ghosts and angel wings -
Pews and kneeling - music reeling -
Mixed with supernatural things!
Little children - lies and lectures -
All the answers learnt by heart -
Bury all their honest questions -
As they learn - in rote - apart!
Arms outstretching up to heaven -
Longing for an endless life -
Paying penance for the privilege
Of a dream outside of strife!
All the factory-produce children -
Turn with orchestrated smiles.
Legislated walks and gestures -
Thoughts determined - words on file!
When unguarded - without structure -
Watch them flounder - watch them fall -
As they crumble in the corner -
Stunned - concussed - against the wall!
