 Teenage Wasteland
(inspired by the word suggestions of Dakota Ridge students who visited the Mercury Cafe' on 9-18-2009)

The Young are wise
They see the bull-crud.
Look at Politics!
They know when
Their parents
Have been Bamboosiled!

So travel the halls
Crowded to the point that
Shoulders push and shove
So that everyone's so close
No body can touch your heart.
To easy to be judged
And betrayed.
Its just Reality
When you are a
Teenager…

Boo-yak-ah-shaw!
Can be heard
Over the din
In the lunchroom
Inhale your lunch
Crud so loaded
With preservatives
And stuff
That by the time
You are your parent's age
Cancer at 35
And heart attacks at 42
Are common place.

Defiance is at
The heart of their soul.

Break away
Forge on your own
Be your own person
Make your own mistakes,

The difference being
Perhaps you can do it
With more Grace.
Than those that came
Before you.
