SIMPLE THANKS TO MY MUSE
(Poetry sometimes needs only to be spoken plainly;
this is one of those times.
Life at times sends a poet someone who
lights the creative fire within.)
Words cannot say
just what you've meant to me
but in this verse
you'll certainly see
At times you've been
my only saving grace
when life seemed far
too troubled to face
You speak my name
and make my senses sing
my spirit soars -
unfettered, takes wing
It's in the way
you peer inside my soul
you read my prose
and see me as whole
You walk with me
through the toughest of times
and share your heart
completed in rhyme
You've been my muse
you are a hand to hold
you give such warmth
when dark days are cold
Where e'er life leads
we'll always share one thing
the gift of dreams
that poetry brings
So let me say
with heartfelt thanks so true
I know there is
none other like you
