Taking The Blues AwayI always look forward To my first cup of coffee Where I dine at my favourite cafe, There are so many things going on there It's a great way to start the day, When I first walk in the door I am greeted with a smile, I sit down at my favourite table And relax for a short while, The air is full of laughter As people huddle into groups Discussing the events of the day, Joe sits in the corner Sipping a lemon tea, Reading the joke from the newspaper To everyone he can see, Then there is Colin Who knows just about everything, When he is not the centre of attention To himself he begins to sing, Jan and Betty sit opposite each other Swapping their cooking recipes, In between they talk of their children Who are living overseas, Steve is a truck driver Who comes in for a skinny latte, He tells us of his many stops He must make throughout the day, Carol runs the cafe Now she is not very organized, Every now and then She forgets someones' order And lets go with a deep sigh, This is indeed the perfect way To start my working day, Seeing so much joy and laughter Can take the blues away By Julia 16-9-2009 Vote for this poem
