Little sandpiper, you're so far from home!
What burdens of life have caused you to roam?
I've seen you on shorelines, your feet in the sand.
Have storm winds now driven you further inland?
I know how it feels to not quite fit in,
to have your tailfeathers thrown into a spin!
You're so out of place amid cold cityscapes.
You'd be more at home flying over the cape.
So fly away home to the place you belong;
to the waves and the sky now sing your sweet song.
I'll find you again amid the sandbars
telling your bird friends of your travels afar!
