The Drifter...part one

The maiden ,nay! the damsel! caught the drifters eye;
Her lids did flap courageously has he went walking by,
The sketch pad fluttered, from summers gentle breeze,
The drifter gave a knowing look , as he headed for the trees…….

He found a nice quite spot, amidst the dappled green,
And tried to recall her face, and the beauty that he'd seen……
The conte crayon was moving in a rather sensuous way,
As he tried to sketch the damsel, that he saw that very day!

The evening light was closing, on the raspberry rippled skies.
The drifter could only see, the damsels meridian eyes.
He wondered about her name, he thought about her lips.
He wanted to caress , those  wide child bearing hips………

But he was only a drifter, that was passing by,
A chancer and a smiler,who would always take off and fly;
Maybe some other time , when his pockets wasn't so low...........
then call upon the maiden, and a courting they would go;

to be continued...........
