Anecdote to Share

Photobucket
i discovered my love and i dont see us the way we are
i see my tall dark and handsome j g with fire in his eyes
he sees his lithe young woman climbing fences in her
cocktail dress after a date chasing her cat off the roof
love is full of anecdotes to share with the grandchildren

the antics we pulled in our youth use to drive us crazy
now there is humor for us on those cold dreary nights
we warm ourselves wrapped in each others arms
talking about some of our notorious escapades
love is full of anecdotes to share with the grandchildren

on the cool nites when the crickets are out serenading us
we will sit beside each other bobbing our heads in memories
strolling down the road hands held remembering past days
sitting on the front porch on hot evenings seeing different days
love is full of anecdotes to share with the grandchildren

i now remember grandpa sitting in his chair with a vacant smile
now i know what was going through his mind... it was grandma
the older we get the more we remember ourselves the way we were
the golden years are the travels we take through memory lane
love is full of anecdotes to share with the grandchildren
