 A Simple Day
Remembering that time of taking a simple day;
Before I labored hard attempting to gain a raise.
Ambition was without meaning, sitting in the green;
Work will wait, I need a break from societies machine.
Laying in the grass, looking up at the clouds in the sky;
Not worrying about my waistline, eating that piece of pie.
Smiling at those who pass me as they walk down the street;
Enjoying the faces in the crowd of people that my eyes meet.
It is a wonderful Monday afternoon, as I sit in the park;
Work is forgotten in my mind, not caring if I leave my mark.
A few pieces of old bread in my hand as I feed the ducks;
Not worrying about tomorrow, pockets empty of any bucks.
A hippie's soul and a poet's heart; I while the day away;
No need to relax or loosen up, born to enjoy this childlike play.
Gentle was this day, without care or worry about a thing;
Eying a hot cutie across the way, dreaming of a flirty fling.
Yet, too involved in nothing to move, just sitting in the grass;
Life moves slowly, the moment is full, yet this day does pass.
I will return to reality of the life and it's hectic pace tomorrow;
My soul has enjoyed a simple day, I feel no remorse or sorrow.
