 Reflecting

Sitting here, reflecting on the quality of my life;
Asking if I have been a good husband to my wife.
Weighing in with the failure, along with the success;
Analyzing the tidiness, along with the unseemly mess.

Looking into my soul to see if I have fed it what I need;
Knowing I must reap the harvest of the planted seed.
Did I seek my spirit with the decisions  that I have made;
Do I meet the standard of progress, have I made the grade?

Being brutally honest with myself when I ask hard questions;
Listening to all the inner voices, hearing all the suggestions.
I can smile, relax, and believe that my pathway is just fine;
Not perfect by no means, yet I am always by life redefined.

This is not a struggle to live with purpose, no, it is truly a joy;
As I allow the  unseemly dregs to be released, so as not to destroy.
My life is not always about keeping my eye on the eternal prize;
As I stop and smell the roses, experiencing with my soul's eyes.

I can breathe in deeply, sucking every drop of life from the air;
It is what it is, so reacting to reality never promises to be fair.
Using the instincts of my soul to follow my destiny in this life;
I enjoy myself, living in my world without all the internal strife.
