A World in Pain

Photobucket
I awakened one night from a dream that confused me
Spending many hours many days trying to understand
I was still at a complete loss to discover it's meaning

My efforts must have been too slow, for one day it happened
I had a vision of such magnitude,  i was stunned to believe
It had implications i feared to believe, wanting only to hide

There was no place to hide, mankind had doomed himself
With hatred, greed, wars, and destruction to this sacred world
He failed to understand the meaning, or the beauty around him

He destroyed the forest, the mountains, the oceans for progress
He failed to understand the plight of its people dependent on them
He started wars he said was to destroy evil, bringing us peace

He never paid attention to the hordes of starving children
People without homes, and without countries to call their own
While he sat in the comfort of his home, his family close at hand

Crimes and atrocities around him, he didnt see, he was out of touch
I began to cry "what had we become?" fearing for this world i loved
Could my vision save us from further decadence, or was it too late
