Dust before Dawn - Part 2
She pulled on the car door
Her muscles ached and burned
The exhaust filled her lungs - nothing
She searched the gravel road
Her fingers wrapped around a heavy stone
Shattered glass - even the sound of it stings
He pushed through the thicket
His pupils grew in the milky lights
The glass dug into his heels - red snow
He reached through the broken window
His hands found the keys
The engine died - silence
"Help"
She wailed
"He's killing me"
Her voice bounced off the trees
"Liar"
He hissed
"You killed him"
His words bled from his lips
Her muscles ached and burned
The exhaust filled her lungs - nothing
She searched the gravel road
Her fingers wrapped around a heavy stone
Shattered glass - even the sound of it stings
He pushed through the thicket
His pupils grew in the milky lights
The glass dug into his heels - red snow
He reached through the broken window
His hands found the keys
The engine died - silence
"Help"
She wailed
"He's killing me"
Her voice bounced off the trees
"Liar"
He hissed
"You killed him"
His words bled from his lips
