 JANET'S PLANET

Your Smile

A smile, your smile
It's been a little while
Burdens you carried
We never knew until you were buried
On summer days you would be sitting wishing
Making plans for early morning fishing
Looking forward to retirement you were all set
Your beautiful home we will never forget
Your hidden special treasures
You truly did not measure
Your humility and pride
You contained deep inside
When all was said and done
Your nephew, my youngest son
Inherited your guitar
He became that shining star
In your backyard, mother picked apples from your tree
We all did agree
That was her way of holding on
It was difficult for her, you were gone
When dark clouds appear
I think of you and hold back a tear
A smile, your smile
It always spread happiness extremely worthwhile

*I wrote this poem in tribute to my only brother.
I wrote it a few years ago. I decided to complete and post it.
