Poems of the spirit, hear, living and loving
Hello, my name is Claudia. I am married to Jose and we live in the Midwest. I named this page chocolate poems because Jose's nickname for me is Chocolate, I'm African-American he is a Mexican national who became a naturalized citizen about 15 years ago. We are parents, homeowners, and pet owners. Our marriage is a successful one in all the ways success is measured. We married young and have remained happily so. Marriage is hard work, interracial couples face additional issues. Marriage is hard work as many of you undoubtedly know. A successful marriage is worth any struggle.
I work as a paralegal by day, a position I truly love. It is exciting and challenging. Daily I must call upon my ability to think fast, talk fast and stay "with it" while interacting with attorneys, clients, the courts, opposing counsel and legal service providers. Before I was accepted into a paralegal program one of the tests required was one that measured ones ability to think in the abstract, while remaining focused on the linear. There are not many occupations requiring this type of duality.
When I am not being a wife, mother, pet owner, homeowner and paralegal, I am a writer. This may sound as though I only write for short periods of time, whenever I can squeeze it in. Not true. I write all the time, I observe and remember, I am always writing either internally, on paper or just scribbling a phrase or random thought in my notebook. I work for long periods of time on all my poems and short stories. As a result I have not produced a large body of work.
