Dixie is my name. I live in Arizona but am originally from Missouri. I came to Arizona back in the 6o's but have traveled to many places as my husband was in the Navy. I started writing poetry in 2001 my first poem is "Lost Love". I have always like to write but never ventured out in poetry. Mostly journals and such. For personal purposes. I dropped out of school at an early age so am not very educated. I love to read so I have learned a lot through time. I am retired from drapery mfg. Sewing is something I love to do also. I crochet a lot too. I am a great grandmother above all else. These children are so very special. I have 14 great grandchildren. 13 grandchildren, and 3 children. Oh! how the family grows.
I recently lost my oldest son. He passed away June 15, 2004. The grief is almost more than I can stand. I just don't know how I would have made it without the good Lord helping me. I have to give him all the credit. What talent I have has come from him. I give him all the praise. I still have both my parents and they have been a pillar of strength. They encourage me in all that I do. I love them so very much.

It's autumn and the trees are ablaze
The air is cool and crisp these days
A breeze lifts up the leaves from the ground
Looks like little angels dancing around
Soon to heaven they will go
Under a heavy blanket of snow
The Rain God will shed his happy tears and bring
New life again in the spring
Under the sun; a field of flowers
lift up their heads
and thank their God
for the happy tears he shed.
