1. Why don't I love You as I should?
Why is my heart so cold?
Why do I turn to lesser joys
Instead of love untold?
2. Why won't I rest my aching heart
Deep in Your outstretched arms?
Why won't I listen to Your voice
When threatened by alarms?
3. Why does this life feel like a war
Between old me and new?
Why don't I grow more rapidly
To become more like You?
4. Why don't I just give up this fight,
Though torn from every side?
Why do I cling to threads of hope
While battling with pride?
5. Why do you choose to pour out grace
Upon this weary wretch?
Why do You even keep me here?
Because Your ways are best.
6. Why would You choose to let me fall
And pick me up again?
Why would You care for me at all?
Because You are my friend.
