Phrase~painters And Poeteers
Why Can't We?
We, as a nation,
Love freedom;
freedom from kings
and tyrants,
authoritarian governments,
police states,
and unjust laws.
Why can't
we then understand
that freedom for one
means freedom for all?
Having the right to
speak my mind gives you
the exact same right to
speak yours.
The right to marry
my best friend and
soulmate should allow
you to do the same thing:
marrying your
best friend and
soulmate.
Color of skin, sexual
orientation, gender,
religion, political
affiliation shouldn't
be a catalyst
to belittle, insult,
imprison or worse,
anybody.
Are there too
many Americans?
Have there ever
been too many
Americans?
Memory fails to
prove a period
of time when
assimilation
and immigration
stymied thought,
economy, or principle.
Why can't freedom
reflect freedom?
Today? Now? In this
precise moment?
Why can't we base a crisis
upon fact?
An opinion is a privilege.
An opinion is not the
origin for law
and regulation.
Affiliation with
hate is an inherent
personal fear; a fear of
what, who knows? But hate
never builds a bridge; hate
never reaches out, it does
not provide comfort. It has never
sought equality.
We as a nation
love freedom. We love
proclaiming our allegiance
to a flag, to a system,
but, not to each other.
Longevity and genealogy
are good for
historical reference.
It does not, however,
indicate character or
quality of citizenship.
Work, ethics, accomplishment,
integrity, trustworthiness,
honesty, commitment, diligence,
and dedication do reflect
values that we, once upon a
time, fought to uphold; internally
and abroad. World War II Germany
was Hate. It was evil in every
form and fashion. It tried for several
years to spawn even more hatred.
There is no reason or excuse to
incite discord and violence between
citizens of our world.
Differing religions is not the problem.
Not putting an effort forth
to understand differing religions, beliefs
and culture are. Laziness. Sloth.
Egotism: never American values. Never.
Investing in separation
manipulates resources that could
build a system to
accommodate hurting people
ushering them into a home they
could once only dare dream of.
Generosity engenders generosity.
Why can't we use
this as our mantra?
Why can't we rally
around generosity and compassion?
There has never been a crisis
concentrated upon generosity.
There has never been an
emergency because of people
having an abundance of food
and civility and security.
"Crisis" is fastened to
fear, a lack of faith; and
an ultimate forboding
lack of hope.
Why can't we make it better?
Why can't we?
