 ramblings and things

It’s like a week of Sundays
When you’re in a lockdown.
It’s like being a resident of
A strange ghost town.
When you’re allowed out
For your bit of exercise
It’s like seeing through
A different pair of eyes.
Everywhere is so quiet
On the near empty street.
We carefully skirt around
Those few that we meet.

We’re all so embarrassed as
We keep our six foot apart
Though folk seem to chat more
And maybe that’s a start
For that new way of living
That this crisis has brought
And for the new way of existing
We’ve all needed to be taught.
When this crisis is over
No more isolation for me
Just together with the gang
Oh how happy I’ll then be.

No more weeks of Sundays
In a virtual ghost town
As life gets back to normal
And we’re finished with lockdown.
We’ve got so very casual.
Just travel here and there.
Contagion travels just as easily
If we don’t all take proper care.
It’s a strange new world now.
We’re globe trotters these days:
Maybe there’s a price to pay for
These modern free and easy ways.
