 ramblings and things

Off Road Parking.

Another slab of concrete laid
Another front garden gone
Just another sign of progress
As the world progresses on.
Another car can now be parked
Just feet from another front door
So another motorist doesn't need
To park and walk home anymore.

But will there come a time when the
Next felled tree or grubbed up hedge
Becomes the final straw that pushes
Climate finally change over the edge.
Will our so called progress
For what progress is worth
Finally speed up beyond reversal
The changes to our Mother Earth.

As the world's population
Inexorably increases
And the habitable land
Slowly and surely decreases
Will they look back on our present,
Think of things we could have done,
So change could have been slowed
And the battle maybe even won..

Will they rip up the concrete,
Plant all the hedges back,
Nurture every green meadow,
Every twisty country track,
Lay back the shrunken forests,
Cut down the rate of birth,
And once again maybe
Live in peace with Planet Earth?
