 IVY COVERING OLD BRICKS – A BEAUTIFUL AUTUMN DAY

My memory today went to the day years ago
when you made me your wife

It was a beautiful autumn day
the air had a chill shouting 'summer is over'

I remember the church with ivy
covering the old bricks by the front entrance

Rice thrown as we left the church
with friends and family getting a last hug before we drove away

That was the turning point in my life
no more was I alone

It seemed like there was an adventure around every corner for us
Places to go - people to meet - babies and you to take care of

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Then came the day when they were grown
and starting lives of their own we had the freedom we had long ago

Life was fun and exciting each day
We loved - we laughed - life was good

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Then out of the blue our lives took a turn
We found out you were sick and time was running out

Time in a spiral was running to fast for me
I saw you wasting away and there was nothing I could do

I wanted to grab you and scream
 "it's going to be all right"

My memory today went to the day years ago years ago
when you made me your wife

It was a beautiful autumn day
the church was covered with climbing ivy on its bricks

October 21 was our wedding date
That was the turning point in my life
