This is a dedication and a recognition to everyone that we've lost to COVID 19 and to the surviving families that are left standing in their wake. There is no amount of empathy, no amount of condolences or any consolation that I can offer that will erase the pain and heartache that you've endured. What could be more harrowing than to not be able to be with a loved one when they were suffering and to be denied the opportunity to offer words of encouragement during such a tumultuous time. I can only imagine the literal hell it must have been when you were stripped of the chance to be with your family member during their final moments; People that meant the absolute world to you who suddenly are no longer with us. To lose someone under those circumstances and to not be able to say goodbye is unconscionable. For that individual, for that human being to have to suffer in silence without the support of family and ultimately having to die alone had to be completely devastating. And with memorial services being delayed indefinitely or forbidden in many instances and with the bereaved not being permitted to attend services, it seems as if this virus has destroyed more than countless lives but it has also destroyed or upended our very “way of life.”
