Kris, I read your poem LET THE BIRD FLY AWAY with interest, and with empathy. How rewarding it must be to have a wild bird fly back to you, after you have cared for it. We should not judge them of course, if they do not come back. Wild birds - and other creatures - have a natural urge to be free. As you say, the theme of the poem could also apply to humans. We nurture and care for our own children with love, and they too fly away when they reach adulthood and find a partner to share their life. If we are lucky we still see them quite often, but if they move far away we may see them again only rarely. Our eldest son and family live more than 200 miles away, and we only see them about twice a year. People have busy lives these days, but at least we can still communicate by phone or other devices. Hope you are well, my friend ~ Robert
